Sometimes i feel a week has gone by so quickly, i really don’t know where the time has gone, but the deadlines are always growing. At this moment, sometimes i feel that i don’t have enough time to get everything done and wish i had more time. Did you ever think the same thing? How often do you think it? How many times a week or even each day? :p

 

You must have know the two truths about time. Yup! We all have the same amount and can’t create more. There never has been and never will be more than 24hours in each day. So why can some people achieve more in less time?

 

I just found the biggest reason why i feel shortage of time is i have a poor self management. “Organized and focused” is actually my feeling. Time doesn’t need managing, it’s me that needs managing! Focussing on self management is about finding lasting changes to ineffective behavior pattern and bad habits.

“There are two blessing which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing good.” (HR. Bukhari)

Here are a few things i’ve learnt to manage my self:

1. Set goals

I used to think it was fine to plan my day in the morning, but what i found is that it’s just not as efficient because mornings can be unpredictable. Morning can be a very hectic time for a mom, wife, and student like me. So, i decided to make a plan the night before. Every single time when i plan my day the night before, i wake up with a sense of purpose. I have my own goals every morning. Right after my morning routine, i can start my productive time. Believe me, set a goal the night before will make you want to jump out of the bed in the morning!

2. Wake up early

Wake up an hour earlier, dedicating that time to reciting Al Qur’an and waiting for the Fajr time. The early mornings are known having barakah (blessing). I find peace from this.

“Whoever performs the prayes before the rising of the sun (Fajr) and before its setting (‘Asr) won’t enter the hell.” (HR. Muslim).

3. Do an exercise

An early morning walk or simple stretches will get our blood moving and i’ve find that i have the energy to stay up and make the most of my day, insyaAllah.

4. Priority goes first

I have set my to do list and record all my task, appointments, deadlines, and everything. And then i asked this question to yourself before start something, “do i really need to do this now?” If you don’t need to do it now, don’t do it. High priority task first and then turn to other things. When i have my priorities in order, i can fit everything in. The key is do what’s most important and insyaAllah you’ll see barakah (blessing) in your time and your life.

5. Feeling grateful

We may have a bad day but there is something good in everyday. Don’t forget to closing everyday with a grateful heart. Notice all of the prayers in life that have been answered. Alhamdulillah. Count your blessing and stop focusing on what you don’t have.

“If you are grateful, I will give you more” (QS. 14: 7) . If you end your days with a grateful heart, you’ll feel more positive emotions and increase your energy levels for tomorrow.

Everyone has exactly 24 hours in a day. If others can get work done and still have a time for family and friends, so can you!
